That looks like a widget to me. If so that long press, right in the center of it should display the trashcan at the top. If that;s not the case then it may be related to some other app but it looks to me like a mini version of the standard Google search bar.

When I do the LONG PRESS, it turns gray, but no trashcan appears at the top of the screen or anywhere else. Other than turning gray, nothing seems to happen.

Try using a different launcher - Nova is a great one.

Not sure what you mean. What is a different launcher? How would I go about this?

Look up Nova launcher on the Play Store. In Android the launcher is the part of the OS that controls the look & feel of your device. Samsung have their own launcher in their iteration of Android. Nova (or any of the others) is used just like any other app - but specifically in your situation, it allows removal of the Google search bar widget.

Try it, if you don't like it, uninstall it again. It's just an app like any other.

I have been using CoPilot since first asking about this back in Dec 2011. However, this past Sept we had to replace our Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus with a Galaxy Tab 4. Now we have only 8gb onboard vs. the 16gb the older one had. But this one handles the microSD card better.

So, is there a way to get CoPilot to install itself and it's maps to the microSD card vs. internal memory.

Also, was a little interested in Traffic Updates and route correction for traffic. I have heard about Waze and wondered what most here thought. Are you getting ads with that? Some people said that Google Maps now has the Waze Traffic Data incorporated into it.

So in summation, would most experienced tablet folks still recommend CoPilot for the best "offline" solution for a GPS program or something else?

I use Waze a lot and it works great, but it does consume data though surprisingly little in my experience.

Does Waze need constant internet connection, like 3g or 4g, or will it work "offline" for basic GPS functions?
