Who's your current service provider? Might be able to give you some good advice on your first Android handset.

I'm with T-Mobile and ATT. I plan on dumping both of them, phonewise, when my current contracts are up. I guess I am stuck with T-Mobile for my Tab. For a phone I plan to go to a pay as you go service, probably with Virgin. I have had it with the different providers for cell phones. I don't see where needing a battery for a perfectly acceptable, working phone, requires a new device with a new contract for two years to which the salesman adds an unrequested service contract to jack the monthly fees up as high as possible.

For Virgin Mobile, there's 2 current android handsets you might want to conisder, The LG Optimus V and the Samsung Intercept if you want a slide out keyboard.

There's also some more nice upcoming Android smartphones headed to Virgin like the HTC Wildfire S so it really depends when your contracts up with AT&T.
