Deleting/Uninstalling Unwanted Widgets

Have been trying the recommended holding down the item to be deleted and dragging it to the trashcan until it lights up. That "trick" is not working for me but I read in another forum that the 7" model can be dragged to the top bar's "information" symbol which opens a window with an "uninstall" box.

I downloaded several apps from the store some of which I'd like to uninstall but am prevented from doing so.

Please give me the steps to do it since I want to have a leaner home page.

There may be 2 parts to this. If an app is what you want to uninstall you have to start in app drawer, where all of your apps are listed. You'll find that spot by tapping 6 tiny squares in the upper right corner of your home screen. Long press any of those apps that you want to uninstall and you should see that uninstall icon appear at the top of the screen, drag that icon to the uninstall.

If it's a widget did you want to remove, removing widgets from the home screens works the same way but it won't uninstall anything. If you truly want to get rid of the underlying program the widget along to follow the procedure from above.

Open the Settings App
Choose Apps (applications)
Tap on the All Tab at the top
Locate and tap on the TW Launcher app (or touchwiz launcher)
Tap on the Clear Data button (your devices data will not be deleted, only the data in this app)
Tap on the OK button to confirm.
Reboot the device (hold down the power button for reboot options)
