    Playing Video on 10.1

Just received my tablet. Awesome device. Copied some downloaded avi series and movies to it, without converting, it came out very choppy, like it can't keep up.

Tried it again, this time with converting - bad quality video, but not choppy.

Tried it again, this time via Kies - same as before, still choppy.

Anyone out there expierencing the same? Anybody out there coming up with a proper work around.

If I were to convert the vids myself, what would be the recommended settings.

    Thanks in advance for help.

I had to download the MX Video player and the codecs arm7 in order to play my avi files. Get them through the android market. Give it a try.

    Tried it, still choppy.

Even tried killing all applications and "clear memory" on the Task manager - Ram manager. No win here.

Strange, i can't be the only one experiencing this.
Will keep trying and come update the thread if I find any solutions.

fanie - depends on the avi file and the player - not all players support all the many different codecs - if you have a high bit rate (>2mbps) and unsupported codec, you will encounter this problem. I usually just transcode everything to h.264 format as it is widely compatible with many players

in the short term, you can also try MX Video Player (make sure you also download the codecs), Rockplayer and Dice player

Well, it seems problem solved. DICE Player solved it.

Pity one has to pay to get something playing properly. Oh, well, at least the problem is solved.

My movie needs were met perfectly by using DVD Catalyst, and the companion Movie Gallery app from Tools4Movies. I took three Universal Legacy Horror sets (Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolfman), converted all 13 films with DVD Catalyst (using the provided Samsung 10.1 settings), and moved them onto my Tab. I downloaded JPEGs of the original movie posters, and Movie Gallery scrolls through them smoothly. Playback on the Tab is smooth and free of jitters at all at full screen, video and audio syncs perfectly, and image quality is as good as the DVD.
I had a question about the settings in Movie Gallery, emailed Mitch (the developer), and he responded within a couple hours...it doesn't get much better than that!
Count me as one very pleased Tools4Movies customer!
