    Drive Letter?

    Hello all,

Does anyone have a software add-in or hack to allow the Galaxy Tab 10.1 appear as a drive letter "K:" etc?

I recently got my new Tab, and LOVE it, but if I don't want to use Kies to transfer files, or want to have other applications address the device as a drive letter?

My Droid 3 phone does this fine, and of course it is running Android as well.

Some different applicatons (other than Kies), won't address the device appearing in "My Computer" as GT-P7510, but needs a drive letter, like USB flash drives, etc will provide.

    Any tips for me here?

Thanks all, I am a new member, and glad to be here!

    Vince

You need to install a driver on your pc - so when you connnect via usb it recognizes the tab and automatically assigns it a drive letter.

By the way - Win7 already recognizes the Tab, I just don't get a drive letter. I can browse the device and see the folders just fine in My Computer, but no drive letter.

Just talked with Samsung tech support, he said that drive letters cannot be assigned. If anyone has a workaround, I would love to have it! Thanks - Vince

If you're familiar with the concept of FTP, you can download SwiFTP Server from the Market and set up your Tab as an FTP server. Then on your PC's browser, go here NetDrive - The Network Drive for Windows and download/install NetDrive on your PC. NetDrive will let you map FTP servers as local drives and assign them drive letters. NetDrive is free for non-commercial use.
