How do you close out apps to save battery life

Just bought the 10.1 and want to close the apps that are running in the background. How do I do that? Is there an app in the Android market that works? Or is there something in the settings that I am missing? Thanks

You can see what's running and close them if you want by going to Settings->Applications.

Android does a very good job of managing memory. In essence it's better that they are open because it helps them get going faster. If the Tab needs the memory, the Linux like method of closing what needs to be closed without user help is what makes Android shine above Windows and ios.
A task killer is not needed and may actually harm performance and battery life

Apps running in the background sit idle unless you're actually using it. Like others have said, no need to interfere with the OS.
