    Angry No Sound

    ive tried everything, but still dont get any sound from playing music/movies, and doesnt seem like mic is working either. Anything i might have missed?

    In quick Settings menu that pops up when you touch the battery level icon, make sure the sound/vibration icon is set to sound.

    Tried that as well and also tried the volume keys at top of tablet next to power button. tested with alarm as well. no sounds coming out. tried earphones as well

    Sounding like a hardware fault to me, but have you tried resetting by turning fully off and then holding doen the on button for 30 seconds?

    Must be hardware problem then. did a factory reset as well. tab didnt make any sound from moment of switching it on for first time

    for the mic - do you get a display of the sound wave distortion when using voice search?
    for sound try with a bluetooth headset to see if sound might be coming in

    There isnt any wave distortions show when using voice search. Dont have bluetooth headset unfortunately

    yep it does sound like a hardware problem
    has it always been like this? perhaps if it still within warranty it can be exchanged. The other possibility is something you may have downloaded - one way to check this is to restore to factory - go to settings - privacy, factory reset

    you will lose all your apps and data but once you connect to google, you should be able to restore most if not all of your apps

    Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
    Running new JB 4.1.1 had same problem opened settings <Device> <Sound> <Volume> <Music, video, games and other media> move slider to full volume.
