    Question "disabled by administrator"

What does this mean? Its my tab and I have not disabled them.

How do add the administrator to change these? Do need to root the tab?

What are you doing when you get that message?

    Welcome to the forum

    Where does it say this?
No, you do not need to root your device.

Under settings , lock scree, screen lock the options for swipe, face unlock, and none are grayed out and say disabled by administrator. Also under settings, security, device administrator, it says no device administrators available. How do I set it up?

You should actually be able to set up the security without making changes to the admin section. Did you make any changes in the developer area under settings? Have you, or have you tried rooting?

If nothing else works you may want to bite the bullet with a factory reset. Have you had it long? Reason I ask is because if a factory reset does nothing you may want to exchange it.

    "disabled by administrator"

Ok, I can tell you why this is happening:

You have either a VPN or an Exchange email account set up.

Remove one or both and you can use slide or face unlock.

If you want to switch to face unlock, remove it, change, then add your exchange or VPN back.

To set up face unlock the system has to UN-secure itself for some reason.
