No mobile network option on recently un-rooted tab, but there is wifi?

Hi all.

I just finished un-rooting my Tab - FINALLY - and it booted perfectly and the system loaded ... and it keeps asking for Wifi, with the sim inserted. No matter how many reboots and power off's I do, I just can not get it to "see" the sim. It's not asking for a sim - the option just doesn't exist, even under settings.

Did I put wifi only firmware on there? And how can I fix this, please?

I looked through the FAQ thread and this particular problem seems to be one I've created.

I was so happy and proud I fixed it and now it's just all sadness again

I have done these steps below, and nothing more since:


1. Unzip the firmware
2. In CWM wipe Data/Factory reset and Cache (Power and Volume DOWN/LEFT)
3. Open Odin
4. Restart in download mode (Power and Volume UP/RIGHT)
5. In Odin click the PDA button and select the tar file
6. Connect your device with the computer
7. Click start and let Odin install the files until the box turn green and your tablet reboot.
...
In Odin make sure only F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot are checked. Do not touch Re-Partition!!


I got my tablet second hand and when I asked the guy who sold it to me for help, that's what he sent me. I'm pretty internet savvy and know my way around technology alright but this has me stumped.

So, after the above I do a factory reset again? I'm not quite sure what recovery mode is, you may have to dumb it down for me?

till it boot to recovery. Black background with blue wording. In the recovery you have option to wipe cache and data. Perform both.

My tab model is GT-P5100.

I don't understand about what firmware I 'flashed' (I don't know what flashing means, I just followed the steps I posted in here and went from there) but the file I downloaded was called P5110XWALE2_P5110XSAALE1_XSA

I belive it's a stock firmware, but the thing is it will ONLY let me use the tablet in WIFI mode. It does not, will not, recognise that there is a SIM card in there and to use mobile data and not *just* wifi.

I don't know how to fix this.
