    Standby media battery usage

My Galaxy Tab 2 is using huge amounts of battery while on standby, only lasting about a day without using it at all. When I go to battery usage it says it's 'Media' is using 99% of it, but I don't know what is causing this. I always close every application when I put it on standby so no apps are running. There is a force close option when I click on media in the battery usage, but it doesn't stay closed for long.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Welcome to the forum

There is very likely an app you have installed that is checking the Internet for whatever reason. That could be Picassa, Google +, a weather widget or mail. Try turning off WiFi for a quick check. If that slows the drain try looking for the app that's checking for something. This can also be a problem if you have set your apps to check for updates automatically as they try and try to see if they need an update.
