Sorry if I'm duplicating messages. Site is new to me. I was able to connect via the Youtube app and watch a short video I posted 5 years ago. I own two other wifi devices and they work fine. So I don't think it is my router. Other options?

Thanks for the link. As I cannot open my browser nor Market, I can't download any apps. I could watch the WiFi analyzer video via Youtube. so far, that is the only app on the unit that allows me to connect to a remote server without crashing.

    Hi John

If the following does not fix it, then I would contact either Samsung or your retailer...

    1. Power off your router/modem & leave it off for 2 minutes at least
    2. While it is off, Factory Reset your Tab & then power it off
    3. Power your router/modem back on again
    4. Power on your Tab again & connect to your wifi & Google Account, but do not install any apps from your account

Now use the Tab in its stock condition. If it works OK, then add a few apps back - checking for functionality as you go.
If the problem still persists, then contact your retailer or Samsung.

    Hope that helps

Okay, While I have many items using the router, all of which work fine, I'll give it a try. But if I am right - that my OS is somehow corrupted - is downloading and reinstalling a new OS available? If so, am I limited to gingerbread or can I use some of the newer android os available? Is the software available online anywhere? Thanks for the effort. John

Did all that. Still crashes. Thanks for the effort. If you can tell me how to re-install the OS and where to find the OS, I'd appreciate that. John

    Hi John,

I would start with a read through this thread "Troubleshooting Samsung Galaxy Tab Bootloop" which is in our Guides, FAQs & Tips section (link in signature) which gives you various options for re-flashing firmware.

Then I would try via KIES on your PC & see if you could do anything from that route.

Finally I would research ODIN (via Google) as a programme to flash the firmware.

As far as getting the firmware is concerned, then I would start with the Samsung website.

But if it is under warranty, then why bother with all that trouble? Contact Samsung support and ask their advice - they might even have an email guide to flashing firmware using KIES & a direct link to download the latest firmware.

    Good luck, whatever you do

But, of course, I see from you first post (must have missed it earlier) that you are rooted & have flashed a custom firmware.

I think that is where your trouble stems from...

Thanks. I bought this unit as a refurbished unit from Woot.com It worked well up til now. I really think it is the software. I'll keep looking. Half the fun is the challenge. Not sure I've "flashed" anything. The last download was an app called Bobsled. It lets you make phone calls from a tablet. Can't receive but can make over the net. I had disabled the program, but things went downhill after it.

Finally got thru to Samsung, via live chat. After being transferred once - the operator (Helena) told me to wipe the cache. That fixed it. What do you think of that?
