    NG - Process com.android ________ Stops Working

    I'm a NG (new guy). I found this forum while trying to find an answer for my malfunctioning Galaxy Tab. On March 23rd, 2013, my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 began to act differently. In a few days, most of the apps would not open. I would get an error message: "The application (browser, market, etc) (process com.android._______) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close" This "crash" happened with the Browser, email, Kindle apps. I did the factory reset. Did not help. I then did the root process: Got the download target screen, opened OOdin3, selected PDA, chose Quens_P100_EF17_Rooted_PDA and it successfully "passed". It did not solve the problem. I assume I must have a corrupted OS, but that is just an educated guess. If so, can I use a later version of the android OS or must I stick with Gingerbread 2.3.4?

    Welcome to the forum John

    It sounds like you could be right about a corruption. It's possible that the problem could get corrected with who knows how many hours of work. But if things are that bad you may want to consider doing a factory reset. That would very likely correct all your problems. Make sure your data is in the cloud or backed up somewhere first.

    Reset

    Actually, I tried that - more than once. That did not fix it.

    Was the problem there after a factory reset without any apps installed other than stock? If so then you may have a hardware problem that would need to be repaired.

    Reset

    Once the reset was performed, the 3rd party apps went away and it looks like all the items remaining are the original apps. But it does boot up properly. But when I try to load market or browser or most of the other apps that I use, I get the error message.

    Maybe we're getting closer

    After the reset are the apps that are causing the problem the ones that require Internet access? (Market, browser etc). If so, you may be having a WiFi problem but there may still be something else going on. You may want to look at the link in my sig which will take you to a WiFi issues thread.

    Have you tried a public hotspot or a friend's WiFi.

    The WiFi feature seems to work. It discovers my WiFi (secure) and my neighbors (also secure). I've really not tried any place else. I was able to set up my Google account, but it never synced, so the emails never appeared. I tried to log in on facebook and got a "error occurred" message. So even tho I see the WiFi symbol, does appear that anything that requires an actual connection - won't. How do I find the WiFi sig link?

    The symptoms at this point indicate the WiFi as the problem. Issues with accessing the Internet can, in many cases, cause the problems you described. Pretty much every one of them.
