    Dual Band (2.4/5 GHz) Compatibility

New poster - first question - In addition to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, I also purchased a Netgear DGND3700 dual band router (connected to fibre optic feed) but the Tab only finds the 2.4 GHz band and not the 5GHz band (only a few feet router to Tab) - Router settings below (WPA2-PSK (AES) security on both)

    Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)
    Name (SSID): CKA
    Channel: Auto
    Mode: up to 145Mbps
    Enable this wireless Network y
    Enable SSID Broadcast y
    Wireless Isolation

    Wireless Network (5GHz a/n)
    Name (SSID): CKA-5G
    Channel: 36
    Mode: up to 300Mbps
    Enable this wireless Network y
    Enable SSID Broadcast y
    Wireless Isolation

Is the Tab compatible with 5GHz band?

    Welcome to the forum

I'm not 100% on your Galaxy but most Android tablets do not do 5 GHz, only 2.4

I don't have an answer for that but I do know that if all you have your router set for is 5 GHz most tablets won''t work with it. In this case I'm not certain what dual band is referring to.

When you go to settings>WIFI is your 5GHz band in the list of WIFI available. If so you can connect if not then your tab only sees 2.4.

Tried what it said in the thread, still can't see the 5ghz network.

EDIT: From my readings, the Tab 2 had its 5ghz capability removed. Shame.

You may need to go to WIFI and forget your 2.4 connection. Reboot and see if your Tab sees the 5G now.

Galaxy Tab 2 still can't see my 5GHZ network, no matter what I do.

They removed the ability to use a 5GHZ network in the Galaxy Tab 2 as far as I can see.
