Hold the power button in until a menu appears with various options. Select "power off" and click ok in next screen.

    It will shut down completely

To power up hold power button in for about 15 seconds or until you feel a vibration.. It will power up. It takes about 50 seconds to power up from cold.

Just be careful how you use it.

    Hi Barbara
I'm having the exact same problem, I bought it last week and it synced straight away to my samsung phone downloaded 5 pics and now I've got a Picasa symbol in the bottom left corner and it won't let me delete them, no dustbin, very frustrating!!!
    Cheers

Go to settings - accounts and see what accounts are there. If you see Google+ or Picassa use their tools, (the gear to the right) to stop syncing. As I think I mentioned, the files you see in Gallery aren't actually there. They are only thumbnail cache files.

Go to settings - apps - all and find the Gallery app, tap it and tell it to clear cache and data. (after the other things) and that should clear it up.

Do the photos/folders in Gallery have this icon in the lower right:

If yes, then they are on either Google+ or Picasa. Use a web browser (I recommend using a proper PC if it is available) and go to your Google+ account as well as your Picasa account (http://plus.google.com and http://picasaweb.google.com) and you should find the photos in one of those locations. I believe Google+ likes to by default auto-upload all photos you take (including screenshots) to your Google+ account in an album that is only visible to you for easy access and sharing. You can turn this off in the Google+ app settings.

I had to download the clean master app, go into junk files, residual files, select the gallery app and clean cache....

anyway the pics are gone now........ thanks for all those who helped out.......
