Galaxy Tab2 7.0 Not Detecting OTG

A few days back my galaxy tab P3100 suddenly shut down and would not power up or charge. A similar problem is discussed in this link. Tab 2 10.1 Shuts Down When Connected to Charger, Won't Turn On Until Unplugged.
However i was somehow able to bring back the device to life. I opened the case , reconnected the battery and charged with a laptop usb in switch off condition for few hours and it worked.

Unfortunately I found that now if I plug in a OTG cable the device doesn't go into OTG mode.usb data cable works perfectly. I am very sure the cable in good condition and it works in other tabs. I even tried this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...gchecker&hl=en
It says OS has USB OTG API but in check OTG signal it says system not detect OTG.

I even opened the device and cleaned the port but cant see any dirt or damage in the mother board.

Is this a hardware failure or software failure?

You did a lot to get where you are but still missing some information. You got it charged connecting to your computer. Can you reproduce that? If so the problem may be the charger. If not it may still be the port. I don't think software could cause your problems.
