    "W-fi Connection Required"

"W-fi Connection Required" - I keep getting this message intermittently and yet when I check my wi-fi setting is on open. Occasionally drawing down the settings links from the top of the screen shows the wi-fi setting as on but clicking on the seetings 'cog' shows wi-fi setting as off - not every time only intermittently. I doubt if it is router problems because a friend with his i-pad connected wirelessly to my broadband has had no problem at all when this problem occurs on my tablet and also I have been able to access the internet with no problems on my laptop computer when this problem shows up on my tablet. Has anyone any suggestions please.

    Welcome to the forum

I suggest going to settings on your Tab 2 and removing the wifi connection point to your router ("forget" it).

Then power off your Tab 2
    Then reboot your router
Then power on your Tab 2 and reconnect to your router.

If that still doesn't clear it, repeat the process above, but when powering on your Tab 2, do so by going to recovery and clearing the system cache. When rebooting after that, re-add your wifi connection.

If that doesn't do it, you are left with a Factory Reset (a guide on that process is linked in our Guides section, linked in my signature, below)

Here are the instructions for entering Recovery.
    * Power off your Tab 2 & leave it off for 2 minutes to ensure it is fully powered down.
    * Hold down Power + Volume UP at the same time.
    * When the Samsung startup screen shows, release the power button and continue to hold the UP button.
    * You should now be looking at a menu list with a blue highlighted bar. Using the volume rockers will navigate through the menus, and power is your accept button.
    * One of the options will be to clear the cache.

    All the best

Many thanks Janner - clearing the cache seems to have worked - but I have copy/pasted your reply into a folder I keep on my computer with solutions to various problems, just in case it occurs again!
