    itunes on Galaxy Note 10.1

    Hi guys,

Thinking of getting a Note 10.1, massive Samsung fan and this tablet looks awesome.

I don't know much about technology/how these things work and wondering if you can help me - wondering if I can get itunes on my tablet? I know you can use kies, but can you put the songs on your iPod from kies?

Going to be replacing my laptop with a tablet, so need to be able to control my iPod using tablet...

    Thanks in advance x

Welcome to the Forum. I suggest you do some research as a tablet is not a laptop replacement.

I have some good news & some bad news for you

    First the good news...
While acknowledging that a tablet device cannot do everything that a full PC/laptop/Mac/Linux device can do, for a "typical" domestic home user the limitations are few and far between. Our household is fully "post PC" and does everything on tablet devices. With either an Apple IPad or a good Android tablet (such as a Samsung product) you can...

    • Use the Internet
    • Use email
    • Shop online
    • Buy or get free books
    • Buy, play organise & also stream music
    • Display/take photos & videos
    • Print wirelessly
    • Write documents, spreadsheets & presentations in standard formats
    • Stream online video & catchup TV
    • Maintain records
    • Plan projects
    • Keep an up to date calendar
    • Share this information between home devices
    • Receive firmware updates to the tablet
    • Do virtually anything else you can think of - there is bound to "be an app for that"

    Now the bad news...
What you can't do is "rip" CDs, or DVDs to electronic formats.
Neither can you load iTunes onto an Android device in order to maintain an iDevice via that method.
An iPad cannot be used to manage an iPod in that way either.

So, that is my 2c/2p s worth I hope it helps you decide what to do...

    All the best

Thanks so much for the reply janner43 - very useful and informative

So it seems that I can use the tablet for everything except my music. My laptop is pretty defunct which is why I am getting a tablet, but I'm sure it can cope with itunes!

    Thanks again for your help.

    You're welcome

I think that you probably have a solution there - keep your "defunct" laptop to manage your iPod & use your tablet for anything else. That will give you some time to research iCloud management for your iPod together with services offered either by Amazon or Google Play for music which might enable you to break free from iTunes.

    All the best

There is one other thing to consider. You can sync your music to your tablet if you are using iTunes on the laptop. If in the US you can use Google Music, if not, there are a couple apps that can do it, AirSync and Syncr come to mind. So all may not be lost, (yet).

    Welcome to the forum!

iSyncr is a great app that will let you sync your iTunes music to your tablet. I personally use it to sync my music to both my phone and tablet. You can sync via USB or wireless also.
