Unhappy Using a Stylus to "Handwrite" Notes on Galaxy 10.1

Though i type faster.. sometimes writing is great when you just needed a few lines of notes.
I recently bought a stylus, excited at the prospect of writing notes on my galaxy 10.1.... it was a disappointment
Response was slower, fine movements don't get detected by the capacitive screen.. . I tried the same stylus on an ipad2. It worked great. Fine movements and flicks of the wrist are detected.

Am I doing something wrong here? sstylus quality? firmware/software problems? I tried different apps.. they all had slow response

    ~~Desperate~~

What stylus? My rubber tipped ones have mixed results on my Android devices but work very well on my wife's Ipad. On my Tab and phone the only consistency is the inconsistency,I can pretty much tell what pressure to use to make them work, etc.
I got one from ifarady.com that is not rubber tipped and have found it to be flawless on my Android devices and her Ipad at any pressure, speed, angle. I use my Firestick on my Rezound phone, Kindle Fire and Tab 10.1. The Firestick is made for the Fire but works on others. I've also got one called a SALT from them, same results when used, that is made to write at angles vs straight on and it works best when held at extreme angles, which I prefer.
The trend seems to be getting away from rubber stylus tips ,for serious users, and going to some kind of mesh cloth with a foam like core and I'm starting to see more stylus makers going that route. The cloth ones also don't leave a residue and actually help clean my screens.
    Hope that helps.

Welcome to the site. Since this is important to you, I would find one that works best and stick with it if you care to go through the expense of trying out different products.

Inability to take handwritten notes disappointed me early on. It's the primary reason I have the Zagg Folio (I can type faster than I write anyway). I seem to recall reading about an app you could get to fine tune the responsiveness of the screen, but it required a rooted tablet. Can't remember the name of the app, though.

Smile Steps to handwritten notes on your Samsung galaxy tab 10.1

    1. Root your tablet and download TouchScreenTune from Google Play
Unfortunately Samsung's preloaded settings for touchscreentune sensitivity are horrible. This is easily adjusted with the touchscreentune app. You can adjust the settings to your liking and a normal rubble stylus will work just as well as with an ipad. But you must root your tablet first.

    2. Download LectureNotes from Google Play. There is no writing app better than this. I've been been using this nonstop for the last few months to study and take notes for the MCAT..... Best note app period.

3.. Get an Adonit jot or jot pro stylus.... On amazon for around 25 bucks.... Most penlike and accurate stylus out there.

    Hope this helps

+1 here on touchscreen tune - yet another advantage of being rooted

i use and app called 'Quill' with a stylus - works great but not as good as my stylus on my galaxy note (with ICS)

How can I root my tab? Sorry, I'm quite bad on tech stuff.
