Can the Samsung Precedent Phone Be Used as a WiFi Hub to Tether a 10.1?

Straight talk cell is offering the Samsung Precedent phone for $150 and $45 monthly for unlimited talk / text / web. Can this phone be used to supply wifi to 10.1 (as a wifi hub )? If so would it need additional software like apanet or something similar?

Assuming this phone has 3G or 4G check to see if the phone supports hot spot. if not does it have Bluetooth? If it does you can use PDANet with phone as server and tablet as client

I'm not seeing a built in hot spot but the bluetooth is 2.1, edr so it's pretty fast.
If verizon has locked pdanet on the market for straight talk like they did for us contract customers try pdanet tablet. same thing, phone is server, tablet is device.

I realize this is an old thread but I just wanted to make sure it is up to date in case anyone stumbles across it. I am on the Samsung Galaxy Precedent and using it as a wireless hot spot as I type this.

I just got this phone for my girlfriend a week ago and I am a iPhone user personally. However I still wanted to make sure here phone was as modded as possible. When searching for stuff to do with the precedent via google it can be hard to stumble across the most accurate and current information, especially when you aren't familiar with android phones in general. Here's the deal....to use the Wifi Tether you need 'root access'.

This is this most current version of a custom rom called AreaRom and if you go through this guide and install it, your phone will be rooted, and you will have a bunch of other customizations, including ClockWorkMod which is a recovery utility you can use to make exact images of your phone and restore them. Very good idea if you plan to explore the world of customizing your phone further.

The point is don't spend too much time on the web seeking answers....instead head over to the link I provided and check it out. Read the rest of the forums, talk to the people on chat. Also head over to the xda forums and see if you can find some general info. These guys do a great job pulling this stuff together and free of charge. They offer support, I mean what more could you ask for!
