Kies Won't Connect with Tab 10.1

I cannot get my Tab 10.1 to connect with Kies on my computer through the USB. I installed the latest version of Kies, turned off USB debugging, etc. The tablet connects to the computer as a storage device, so I can transfer files between my computer and Tablet using My Computer. However, with Kies open, it just says "Connecting". It does not show an error and knows that my computer is connected to the Tablet. It just stays on "Connecting" and never connects in Kies. I have searched the forums ad nauseum and cannot get it to connect. NOt a big deal, as I can get files transferred. It would just be nice to use some of the automated features of Kies to transfer things like music playlists from iTunes and software updates.

Just so you know your not alone with this problem I haven't been able to connect to Kies since the botched upgrade last month. Mine was subsequently returned from Samsung repair with this interesting new feature. I'm hoping any future upgrades will be sent OTA because that would be the only reason I would need Kies.
